Understanding Urgent Care

Urgent care centers are walk-in clinics that treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries that need immediate attention but are not severe enough for the emergency room. They are a convenient and cost-effective alternative to ER visits.

Visit urgent care for:

  • Minor illnesses: cold, flu, COVID-19, strep throat, ear infections
  • Minor injuries: sprains, minor cuts, minor burns, simple fractures
  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • X-rays and lab tests

Go to the emergency department for:

  • Chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Stroke symptoms (e.g., facial droop, slurred speech)
  • Major trauma or bleeding
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Loss of consciousness
